NEWS
By now it is standard that I do a blog at the beginning of the year, only to run out of time keeping it up later in the season. We have therefore decided not to use the blog any longer, as all our news is shared on facebook (www.facebook.com/wackswickedplants), twitter (@wwickedplants) and Instagram (@wackswickedplants). I even […]
Firsts
This seasons FIRST round of actually watering in the trays (last week) as opposed to the odd individual plant and this seasons FIRST escaping wasp
Organisation is the key!!
We are now busy sorting the plants, checking them for any watering requirements, redistributing them to make it easier to stock-take in March. Or to be truthful, to simply see them, touch them, enjoy them while enjoying the sunshine
Oh so glamorous
Yesterday was an excellent example of just how glamorous the glamorous assistant is. I dug up 5 hedging plants (with huge roots), then manhandled 20 bags of grit/granite from carpark to a pallet on the nursery (2 bags at a time in a wheelbarrow), followed by moving 6 huge (350 ltr) waterbutts and partly filling […]
Tunnel vision
Some lovely Darlo’s (Darlingtonia californica to be exact) in one corner of the tunnel, and another lovely person in the other corner hard at work (yes, the boss) TGA
Shows and Fairs updated
I have just updated our shows and fairs for 2017. The ones listed are confirmed. Some dates are still missing, and – like last year – some dates clash so we have to work out the logistics whether it is possible to double (triple) up. We will also try and fit in a few open […]
Frozen purps
Just to emphasize the ‘hardy’ point, frozen purples growing outside at the nursery. Wack posted some brilliant pictures on facebook as well, with water frozen in the purple pitchers! TGA
January spring clean initial results
It looks a little empty, but that is because this tunnel has been completely emptied, cleaned, and only plants that have had their winter spa (cut down, checked for watering requirement, each plant individually handled) are allowed back in. Wack said: “May I compliment Lisa and you on what a wonderful job you have done”. Yes, […]
Darlingtonia
Wack’s been busy splitting, repotting and tidying up of the Darlingtonia’s, while Lisa and I have been busy tidying up the Sarracenia’s in the tunnels. Thanks Lisa!! A little glimpse of what the Darlo’s look like at the moment. If anybody is interested in one, let us know by mail and we will reserve one […]
