Utricularia (Bladderwort) – Care Leaflet

Summer

> A position on a windowsill, greenhouse or conservatory, full sun or semi shade.

> Rainwater only, sit in water (in a deep saucer)

Feeding: we have never found this to be necessary, as the plants only require a few insects per year to survive.

Winter

> These plants are not hardy, so move indoors or heated greenhouse. There is not sufficient light for the plants, so they will stop flowering and not look their best.

> During this period, the main risk to the plant is rotting caused by fungal diseases, usually a result of overwatering. Reduce watering, keeping the plant damp, but never let them dry out completely.

Rainwater alternatives: distilled, de-ionised, reverse osmosis water

Repotting: research your specific plant for the best time to repot and potting medium. The specialist mixture is available from our online shop.

We highly recommend you research your plants on the internet for more detailed information, or browse our website.
