Little pot of horrors

  • Sphagnum moss

How to plant your pot:

  • Add the compost to the pot.
  • Using a spoon, dig out just enough soil so the plant will fit in.
  • Take the plant out of its pot and plant in the soil. Firm it in properly.
  • When all 3 are planted, top dress with sphagnum.

How to care for your pot:

  • Location: Full sunshine, indoors or outdoors.
  • Watering: Rainwater only. Sit the pot in water on a saucer. Rainwater alternatives: distilled, de-ionised or reverse osmosis water.
  • Feeding: We have never found this to be necessary, as the plants only require a few insects per year to survive. If you are worried and your pot is indoors, stick it outside on a sunny day and watch it go to work.

Winter care:

  • We recommend a cool, airy, light area, frost free if a mixed pot – Drosera capensis is not hardy.
  • The plants will have a dormancy period. This can vary from going totally underground to browning of the leaves. Remove any browned leaves.
  • During the dormancy period, the main risk to the plants is rotting caused by fungal diseases. It is therefore important to reduce the watering, just keeping the pot damp, but not allowing the pot to dry out completely.
  • Repotting: The plants should be fine in the pot for several years. Repot when the plants are clearly too big for the pot, using a peat and perlite mixture, available from our online shop.
  • We highly recommend that you research your plants on the internet for more detailed information.
