Darlingtonia (Cobra Lily) – Care Leaflet
Summer
> Full sunshine, semi-shade outdoors
> Rainwater only, sit in water (in a saucer)
> On a hot day the plant does benefit from a dose of cold water on their roots
Feeding: we have never found this to be necessary, as the plants only require a few insects per year to survive.
Winter
> This plant is hardy
> The plants will have a dormancy period, they may not look their best
> During dormancy, the main risk to the plant is rotting caused by fungal diseases, usually a result of overwatering. Reduce watering, keeping the plant damp, but never let them dry out completely. This is not usually an issue if the plant is outdoors.
Rainwater alternatives: distilled, de-ionised, reverse osmosis water
Repotting: When the plant is bursting out of it’s pot, in a specific peat and perlite mixture or specialist peat free mix (both available from our online shop). Best time for repotting and splitting (if you want) is early spring.
We highly recommend you research your plants on the internet for more detailed information, or browse our website.
